DNF today. I would have been a little happier to finish but I was satisfied with the 100km’s of solid racing. I knew the race passed the finish line where our dry clothes and cars were waiting; it was difficult for me not to stop given that I was not in the front group. I was wet and cold and had not long been healthy. It was a soft but perhaps smart decision to stop.

Stage Two: 113km RR. Holland. 18th of June 2010.

I’m not usually satisfied with finishing in the second group but this time I have to be, I was actually quite content with the feeling I had today. I raced cautiously and conservatively after having so much time off the bike.

Dutch racing is known to be brutal and today was no exception. Cervelo controlled the race and made it very hard in the cross winds, I found myself in the front group each time there was a split but unfortunately my body is not familiar with the pain that was required to stay there.

The ITT went as expected for me; a mid field result as usual in an ITT. It could have been worse given my interrupted training during the past six weeks. I’m feeling ok ahead of tomorrow’s stage.

It’s nearly unbelievable to see Cervelo take the first 3 places plus 5th, 6th and 11th….. That is impressive!! I’m not sure if that has ever been done before?

RaboSter Zeeuwsche Eilande (Three Day Tour)

Holland. 17th-19th of June 2010.

On Tuesday morning I will head off to Venice Treviso airport and take a flight to Belgium where I will meet up with my team and staff ahead of the RaboSter tour which starts in Holland on Thursday.
The short three day tour will consist of a 7.1km ITT on day one, 113.9km’s on day two and 134.7km’s on the third and final day.
It will be my first race back after a long break from training and nearly six weeks off racing! I have had a few good training sessions during the past week but I’m not sure how I will go, I can’t really have any expectations.
Stay tuned this weekend for updates!
