Honda Continues To Grow Profile Of Women’s Cycling

To celebrate the launch of the all-new Insight hybrid vehicle, Honda Australia today announced its sponsorship of the Honda Insight Women’s Grand Prix Series.

Part of the NSW International Grand Prix Series, the Honda Insight Women’s Grand Prix Series will be held from Wednesday 8 to Sunday 12 December this year.

Stephen Collins, Honda Australia’s General Manager Sales and Marketing, said Honda saw the professional and dynamic cycling series as an opportunity to further strengthen its support for women’s cycling in Australia.

“Honda has strong links with cycling globally and is delighted to announce its sponsorship of this exciting new cycling series.

Champion Australian Cyclist Calls For Changes To Make Sydney’s Roads Safer

At this morning’s launch of The Amy Gillett Foundation’s Share the Road Tour charity ride, champion Australian cyclist and Commonwealth Games Gold Medallist, Rochelle Gilmore said Sydney’s roads were becoming increasingly dangerous for cyclists and changes were urgently required to improve safety.

Rochelle joins 36 other professional and amateur riders who will cover 830km over six days throughout Sydney and regional NSW. Their focus while riding will be to raise awareness of the ‘A Metre Matters’ message which encourages motorists to give bike riders one metre of space at all times.

“I’m a Sydney resident training frequently and riding a bike on Sydney roads has become hazardous – it is one of my great fears. But in order to win Gold medals for Australia as a Road Cyclist I do need to use the roads for training,” Ms Gilmore said.

Honda Teams Up With The Amy Gillett Foundation

Honda Australia announced today that it will partner with the Amy Gillett Foundation to raise awareness of road safety.

Announcing the sponsorship of AGF in Sydney, Honda Australia’s Managing Director and CEO, Mr Satoshi Matsuzawa said road safety and the preservation of the environment are the platforms of the company’s foundation.

The announcement of the sponsorship of the Amy Gillett Foundation comes just weeks before Honda will launch its all-new hybrid hatch, the Insight.
