DNF today. I would have been a little happier to finish but I was satisfied with the 100km’s of solid racing. I knew the race passed the finish line where our dry clothes and cars were waiting; it was difficult for me not to stop given that I was not in the front group. I was wet and cold and had not long been healthy. It was a soft but perhaps smart decision to stop.

I don’t often like to race for training, I prefer to race with an ambition to win but I’m glad I went to Rabo Ster for the intense racing. I finished the three days with sore legs but feeling confident about my fitness level and motivated for the first week of the Giro.

I now have ten days until the Giro starts. I’m looking forward to stage one, two, four and 10. I’m staying at home (in Northern Italy) for my final giro prep. The Giro Donne is mostly in the north this year and some stages are close to home!
