Day 26 – One Foot in Front of the Other

Day Twenty Six: 05/03/23

Resting Heart Rate: 80bpm

Blood Saturation: 90

A tough day getting moving again. I just didn’t want to get out of bed this morning. I got up and put my base layers on and jumped back into bed. An hour later I got up and put my outer layers on – then jumped into bed again. I woke again and this time put my boots on, thinking I’d get out the door, no – Back in bed with my boots on!

Eventually I got out the door but wasn’t feeling motivated but I started my hike up the mountain. At the halfway point I was feeling down about how long it had taken me and I thought about turning around but then I thought, I actually need to do this – even if it’s super slow, my body needs the specific work and I need to reach 500m of elevation today. So, I just kept putting one foot in front of the other until reaching the top. It was a real drag, super slow. Some days you’re happy, floating, moving pretty fast, maybe hitting some PB’s along the way – these days are important for our motivation and belief however enduring a bad day like I had today is equally, if not more important, to just battle through. These are the days that make the big difference. You need to throw the word ‘performance’ out the window for the day and focus on the tough slog – hard work. That’s all you’ll get out of a session like today.
