Lotto Ladies are now on top!

On the 30th of July Sofie De Vuyst won the 1.NE race in Bambrugge Belgium.

Lago Ceresio, Ponte Tresa, Varese

Grace Verbeke took a solo win at the Erondegem 1.NE race in Belgium last Friday and then she backed it up with another big win at the Valkenburg Hills Classic on Sunday.

Lotto’s newest signing; Australia’s Tiffany Cromwell managed an impressive 2nd place in Germany at the Sparkassen Giro 1.1 race.

That’s some impressive results but what about me?

Unfortunately I’m still in rehabilitation mode following the heavy crash at the Giro in July. I’m currently at the Australian team base in Castronno Varese and will depart on Sunday for Bormio, Stelvio and Livigno with the Australian team and guru physiotherapist- David Hayes. I will continue being treated and monitored daily until my next race in Humsterland, Holland- on the 28th of August.

I’ve not done too much quality training whist being injured but I have been working hard on a new website, an online cycling clothing store; www.rmgsport.com Take a visit!

I took a trip to Sweden for the World Cup but more importantly to see a very reputable chiropractor who thoroughly assessed by body and injures- making a comprehensive diagnosis in order to start with some strategic treatment.

I wasn’t home in Italy for long before I flew to Germany to do a few laps at the Nurburgring. I did one lap with a driving instructor and then let loose by myself, what an experience! I’ve been training on the race tracks in Australia regularly last summer but this is a completely different thing. There is no limit to the number of drivers allowed on the track. Helmets and long-sleeved shirts in cars are not compulsory and you’re pushing your limits amongst drives in Porsche Cup cars as well as dodging guys on scooters wearing flip-flops and a singlet!! I had fun and I survived! It got my adrenalin pumping!

In Germany I also raced the Sparkassen Giro but as expected- not too well. I was more importantly there to meet with Honda Europe’s PR manager and introduce him to the Lotto Ladies Team.
